On January 28th, the Tigers played Lafayette High School’s basketball team in the boys’ gym at Fort Hamilton. It was a special night for those involved, as it was Fort Hamilton’s annual Senior Night. On this night, the school honored all the senior players on the team for their hard work, dedication and the effort they put into the program over the past four years.
The gym was packed with proud Tiger fans. There weren’t enough seats, so fans started sitting on the floor. The game started off close because Fort Hamilton and Lafayette played strong defense. Players like Dawsen Lay and Kendry Sanchez led Fort’s offense in the first half. The score at half was 27-25, and Fort Hamilton had a two-point lead.
In the second half, the Tigers maintained their lead, but Lafayette kept up with Fort’s offense. The game ended up coming down to a few key possessions, like Lay’s three-pointer in the corner and Adem Koch’s essential steal for a layup. The Tigers won 54-51 and celebrated their hard-earned victory.
“This was a great win and showed how good this team is,” said point guard Adham Abdelghany.
To honor the departing seniors, Head Coach Anthony Tolento and the Fort Hamilton Cheer Team put together a celebration for them. All nine seniors—Dawsen Lay, Kendry Sanchez, Adem Koch, Sean Solitario, Julian Molina, Haadi Ahmed, Yousef Bargash, Michael Skountzos and Braitling Severino Arena—were honored. Each player was given a speech by Coach Tolento and a decorated basketball with their number on it. Each senior also received a decorated poster with pictures of them.
Finally, Coach Tolento gave credit to fans at one point of the night and thanked them for their school spirit. This was a much-deserved win and a great way to wrap up their 2026 campaign.
