Ms. Stephanie Draxdorf is one of Fort Hamilton’s newest math teachers, teaching Algebra 1 and 2 teachers to freshmen and juniors.
She enjoys that there are many clubs and many opportunities for students and teachers to immerse themselves in the school community. “There is something for everyone,” she says.
Ms. Draxdorf wants her students to be comfortable with problem-solving techniques that they can use in their everyday lives. Ms. Draxdorf enjoys her job as a teacher because she loves being able to support her students in their academic and personal journeys throughout high school.
“I enjoy being a positive role model to my students,” she noted.
Ms. Draxdorf is also advisor of UNICEF club, a non-profit organization that allows students to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in other countries around the world. While she is advisor of the UNICEF club, she also does math tutoring and plans to attend as many events as she can to show support to her students.
“She truly is an amazing teacher and very kind to her students and understands them and isn’t harsh on them whenever they need help,” said Miley Guerrero, a freshman student in Ms. Draxdorf’s Algebra 1 class.
“She is a great teacher, great at math, and really funny,” said another freshman student who requested anonymity.
Ms. Draxdorf loves the working environment at Fort Hamilton as it is a larger school where she can feel a sense of community that is shared among all its members. It is clear her students are happy to have her as a teacher.
