The Joffrey Dance Academy celebrated its 10th anniversary from June 3rd to 5th with its annual Spring Showcase.
The show featured 16 jazz, contemporary, and ballet performances that were choreographed and performed by current Joffrey dancers along with Joffrey Academy alumni who returned to Fort Hamilton for the showcase. The performances included Joffrey dancers from freshman through seniors in groups, duets, and solos. At the final show, there was a video montage along with a short ceremony to honor this year’s graduating seniors as they move onto their future endeavors outside of Fort Hamilton.
Ms. Sabrina Jaafar, the director of the Joffrey Dance Academy, could not be prouder of her students. “I think for our tenth anniversary show it was one of the best shows we’ve ever had and that the level of professionalism and talent on the stage was that of a professional level,” Ms. Jaafar said. Along with their professionalism, “the kids really supported each other throughout the process and I couldn’t be more proud of all of their passion and work ethic.” Ms. Monica Lessard, a fellow dance teacher at Fort Hamilton who works with Ms. Jaafar and Joffrey students expressed similar sentiments. “It is such a privilege to work with the Joffrey Dance Academy dancers and alongside Sabrina Jaafar,” Ms. Lessard added.
Ultimately, the annual Spring Showcase was a testament to the dedication of Joffrey Dance Academy and the arts here at Fort Hamilton.
