Student Government is crucial to the way things run at Fort Hamilton. Its members work tirelessly to create an environment in which everyone’s opinions are heard. On Friday, January 13, Julian Molina was elected the new Freshman Senator of Fort’s Student Government.
Molina is eager to represent his peers and leave an impression on the school. “When I became freshman senator I was excited,” he told The Pilot. “I felt like all my hard work finally paid off. Currently being Freshman Senator is like a glimpse of adulthood. It’s a new feeling and I enjoy it.”
Molina replaced Devin Wong, Fort’s former freshman senator, who recently acquired a new position as Member-at-Large. During his term, he performed his role admirably and continues to be an exemplary leader as he progresses into his new responsibilities. Meanwhile, Molina is working hard to make this school year run smoothly for his fellow classmates.
“I just want to give students Freshman freedom,” he explained. “I think it would be amazing for them to enjoy themselves and be able to participate in events so they can feel included.”
Student Government is responsible for proposing events, discussing protocol, and handling club affairs, as well as being a part of Leadership. With Leadership applications currently being reviewed to accept more students, there are many more opportunities being created for students to make a change at Fort Hamilton. Molina wanted to remind his peers, “Life is possible if you’re willing to work for it!”
