As much as I hate to be the bringer of bad news, exam season is coming, Fort Hamiltonites! From AP tests to Regents and even finals, the last hours of reprieve before testing begins start now.
Luckily, your friendly neighborhood Starcatcher has an eye out for you. Remember that you’ll always have my wishes of good luck and these great tips for studying and preparing for all those crucial tests you’ll be taking soon!
STRATEGY ONE: FIND AND MAKE YOUR OWN STUDY SPACE!
What makes a good study space for you? Creating your own study space can sometimes be the most important part of studying. Without one, you can’t focus to the best of your ability. Ideally, you should select a quiet and comfortable area to concentrate without distractions and appropriate materials. If you can’t find a place in your home, you can go to the library at Fort Hamilton, which is tailored for work and quiet studying. Finding a study space can help you study to the best of your ability, leading to high scores on any test.
STRATEGY TWO: TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!
If your mind is your greatest weapon against school-based troubles, you have to hone your skills. In that sense, you have to take care of not only your mind but your body, as well. Before big tests, get a full night’s rest, eat a healthy meal, stay hydrated, and keep a cool head. The last thing that you want to do is go to take a test stressed and not in the best mindset.
STRATEGY THREE: KNOW YOUR CONTENT!
To be prepared for any test, the most essential piece of advice that I can give you is to know your content. That’s why studying is so important. Without knowing every piece of your content, you leave yourself open to not understanding or even getting questions wrong. If you’re struggling with a specific topic, focus on that, but always remember to return to your fundamentals.
